Prostheses

Stability and pass comfort

Prostheses are increasingly being manufactured using 3D printing processes. The socket in the prosthesis can be designed based on a scan of the residual limb. Experience still plays a role here in how the socket of the residual limb is designed so that there are no pressure points and the weight is distributed evenly.

Another requirement is, of course, that the prosthesis does not break.

Both the comfort and wearing comfort as well as the strength of the prosthesis can be analyzed and optimized using FE calculations.

Status descriptions

State 1 shows the geometry of a lower leg prosthesis.

State 2 shows the stresses in the prosthesis at half the weight load.

State 3 shows the stresses in the prosthesis at full weight load.
