The Euler-Lagrange (CEL) method shown above is also used in the design of test chambers. The combination of high pressures with compressible media leads to very high loads on a test chamber.
With the aid of containment analysis, the chamber and the vessel are modeled in a numerical model via a classical FEM mesh (Lagrangian). The fluid inside the vessel is modeled via the Euler approach. The combination of both methods leads to a coupled Euler-Lagrange approach (CEL). Thus, the bursting process can be represented in a transient dynamic simulation. The result is a realistic load for the test chamber, which enables a safe and economical design.
