When I still did most of my calculations myself, I always leafed through my books when designing bolts, determining the wall thickness of containers or looking for rough material parameters or material values. Again and again I calculated the same formulas with my pocket calculator and went through the same tables.
This was not particularly complicated, but it always took me half an hour to a whole hour to open the chapters in the technical literature and find the corresponding tables.
Later I stuck yellow notes on the corresponding pages in my "Dubbel - Taschenbuch für den Maschinenbau" to be faster. But at some point there were so many slips of paper that the time saving became less and less.
When I tried out a few apps with my smartphone half a year ago, I got the idea that it would have been a great thing to have apps that were as easy to use as possible for rough dimensioning. Instead of making a copy of the dubbel, I would also have the results right at my fingertips electronically, so I would know what I had entered afterwards.
This was the birth of our technical M&P apps.
My co-workers are always coming up with new ideas for what can be done with them, so in the meantime we have developed various apps and are busy writing more apps.
The following apps are currently available for download free of charge for Android and Apple iOS:
✓ M&P Glossary
Numerous terms of technical mechanics explained understandably in simple terms
✓ M&P screws
Bolt dimensioning (pre-dimensioning and simplified verification according to EC3)
✓ M&P pressure vessel
Stresses and minimum wall thicknesses for cylindrical and spherical pressure vessels
✓ M&P EasyFKM
Rough static and dynamic verification according to the FKM guideline
✓ M&P EasyStrain
Estimation of plastic strains and elastic stresses (Neuber hyperbola).
Best of all, the apps are very easy to use and they are currently still free for our customers. You can have the results from the app sent directly to you as an email, print them out and attach them to your strength verification.
And if a simple proof is no longer enough, then you have us 🙂 .
So act now. You can find the apps in the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store at the link below.
With best regards
