The project "Development of a novel system for the production of efficient lightweight structures" (Molli) aimed to establish a measuring system for the reliable and rapid determination of crash-relevant, strain-rate-dependent material parameters even at high strain rates, in order to achieve better quality in the calculation of components.
The data thus obtained can be implemented in simulation calculations and enable support in the development of new types of structures, for example in lightweight construction.
Highly dynamic effects in the measurement due to vibrations of the testing machine can be eliminated by fitting the measurements in the simulation by mapping the testing equipment.
High-speed optical recordings of the specimens provide additional information that goes far beyond pure force-displacement curves.
